Map of Santorini, Travel Information, Sightseeing, Santorini Beaches, Attractions in Santorini Greece

If you want to experience one of the most unique places on earth, plan your vacation in Santorini Greece. This island is an unusual land, with volcanic cliffs, colourful beaches, impressive ancient sites, quaint villages with ‘cave’ houses and winding alleyways, and the best view in the world that combines the Aegean Sea, the Santorini volcano and the Cycladic sunset. This page provides a brief guide to Santorini Island, including a map of Santorini and information about sightseeing, beaches and distances of the Drossos Hotel from various points of interest.

Santorini Beaches – Perissa Beach
Perissa Beach is part of the long black beach located on the eastern side of Santorini Island. It is fully-equipped with sunbathing facilities and water sports kiosks, while a good selection of cafés and tavernas are located nearby. Other Santorini beaches worth visiting are the black sandy beaches of Perivolos, Kamari and Monolithos, the Red and White Beaches near Akrotiri, Ammoudi Beach, Armeni Beach and Baxedes Beach near Oia, Vlychada Beach on the southern coast and Vourvoulos Beach on the northeastern coast of Santorini.

Santorini Sightseeing
Santorini is a wonderful holiday destination for those who love sightseeing and touring. We recommend purchasing a detailed map of Santorini and setting off on your trip into history.

Located in the village of Akrotiri, is the breathtaking Minoan settlement, which is one of the most well-preserved ancient sites in Greece. Akrotiri was completely cove re d in ash and lava for centuries and has been connected to the legend of the Lost Continent of Atlantis. Close to Perissa is another amazing archaeological site, Ancient Thira. It is an entire complex of sanctuaries, temples, an agora, a theatre, and other structures.

In Fira, you can visit the Gizi Manor and its collection of engravings, historical documents and paintings, as well as the Archaeological, Folklore and Pre-Historic Thira Museums. Throughout the island, there are lovely Cycladic-style churches. We also suggest visiting the very picturesque villages to admire the unique Santorinian architecture. Devote a day to visit the volcanic islands of Nea Kammeni, Palea Kammeni, and Thirassia, to swim in the hot springs of the Caldera.

Local Cuisine of Santorini
While vacationing in Perissa, we suggest trying some of the delicious local dishes at the many tarvenas and restaurants in the town. The most well-known Santorinian dish is fava, a dip made of split peas, onion and lemon. Other delicacies include squash balls, tomato balls, chickpea balls, fried white aubergines, sun-dried tomatoes, fish soup, and a variety of seafood dishes. You can accompany your meal with a glass of famous Santorinian wine.
